MILKA DUNO AND PATRICK CARPENTIER
TO CHALLENGE ROLEX SERIES RACE IN MEXICO
CITY
Duno, Carpentier and Team Carry Momentum from 2nd Place Finish
at Rolex 24
At Daytona
February 27, 2007, Los Angeles, CA...Milka Duno and co-driver
Patrick
Carpentier are heading south to compete in the second round
of the 2007
Rolex Sports Car Series at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez
in Mexico City
this Saturday, March 3, 2007.
Duno and her 2007 Rolex 24 At Daytona teammates Patrick Carpentier,
Darren
Manning and Ryan Dalziel took their #11 Pontiac Riley Daytona
Prototype to a
2nd-place finish after a nearly flawless performance over
the grueling
24-hour race on January 22 and 28.
The strong finish was especially significant for Duno as
she earned the
highest finish by a female driver in the event's 45-year
history - as well
as the highest finish by a female driver in a major race
at the famed
Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL.
The Mexico City road course is 2.5 miles long and over the
three days of
activity Duno, Carpentier and the crew will be involved in
two practice
sessions on Thursday, a practice and qualifying session on
Friday, and a
final practice before the race on Saturday.
Duno was invited by the series and the circuit to conduct
a media tour in
Mexico City last Wednesday to promote this weekend's event.
By all
indications the tour generated much media attention - with
an estimated 70
journalists attending the press conference at the Hard Rock
Café in Mexico
City.
Milka Duno
"The event in Mexico City has very quickly become one of
my favorite races
each year. The fans are so incredibly supportive and really
very
knowledgeable about our racing. It's such great fun to race
with them and to
see them in the paddock and in the stands. We've got a lot
of positive
energy with us from our success at Daytona that we will carry
with us and
the team has been working very hard. I think Patrick will
really enjoy his
return to Mexico and it will be great to share that with
him. We had a taste
of victory in our last race so I know we'll be doing all
that we can to
succeed in Mexico!"
Patrick Carpentier
"I'm looking forward to this race. I haven't been to Mexico
in a while - the
last time was with Champ Car. I like the idea that we will
not go through
the stadium and take the fast corner before the last one.
I've always
enjoyed fast corners. It will also be good to see the team
again. Now the
regular season is really starting!"
The SPEED Channel will broadcast the race live beginning
at 4pm ET on
Saturday, March 3. The Grand American website at www.grandamerican.com will
offer live timing and scoring of all practice and qualifying
sessions,
including the race itself.
